Commercial Manager - Sports to 50K

North Kensington

This is a newly created position to take responsibility for more than £3m+ of revenue at a leading sports centre based in North Kensington. You would be responsible for the income generation across three key sports, climbing, tennis and football pitches. The biggest focus will be on the climbing wall which has more than 350 climbing courses and is used by Olympic hopefuls and casual climbers. You will also be responsible for a buoyant tennis programme with 8 courts and a similar number of outdoor floodlit football pitches.

As the commercial sports manager you will be supported by a head coach for each sport with an overall coaching team of around 80 full and part time staff.

We are keen to hear from candidates who have held either a GM or Centre Management position responsible for multiple sports and revenue lines or potentially a candidate who has had sales management responsibility for a broadly similar sporting or commercial leisure business. Key focuses include

  • Optimising the programming, yield and occupancy across all the sports.
  • Evaluate and implement opportunities to review the programme and drive revenue opportunities.
  • Work closely with the sales and sports development team on developing partnerships and contracted clients.
  • Look at sponsorship and advertising opportunities, exclusive hire and corporate days.
  • Drive retail spend and margins for all sports.
  • To achieve sales and revenue targets and maintain labour costs within budget.
  • Build and develop strong partnerships with the key clients and partners who book the facilities..
  • Lead, promote and coach your team to adopt an approach to continuous service improvement.
  • Work closely with the Operations Teams to ensure the highest levels of health and safety across each sport.

Then position is predominantly Monday to Friday with your shifts typically ranging between 9am and 8pm to enable you to meet key clients booking the facilities. There may be the occasional need to work at weekends with competitions, events and sporting festivals taking place. In addition to a competitive basic salary of 45-50K dependent on experience, holiday entitlement starts at 28 days per annum with free fitness membership available. There are significant opportunities for career development working with one of the leading operators in the UK leisure industry.

Due to the anticipated high level of interest in this position only those candidates meeting the above criteria will be considered.
