It is exciting times at Stroud District Council as we create a new leisure service. We are bringing a key facility in house and aligning our provision to create a high-quality integrated approach to health, fitness, wellbeing and physical activity for all of our local communities.

The Leisure Services Manager is a new post. The successful candidate will lead us through transition and champion the delivery of our leisure service into the future.

Job Summary:

  • Work with key stakeholders to develop and deliver our leisure services strategy.

  • Manage the seamless integration of Stratford Park Leisure Centre into the council's leisure provision placing our communities at the heart of what we do.

  • Develop and implement our service and operational policies and procedures for Stratford Park Leisure Centre and The Pulse Dursley.

  • Provide overarching leadership to the leisure operations teams, inspiring a culture of collaboration, service excellence and drive for results.

  • Oversee the financial management of the leisure facilities, including budgeting, forecasting, development of business plans and cost control of the service.

  • Collaborate with other services and external partners to develop and deliver innovative leisure, fitness and wellbeing programmes and initiatives across the whole community.

  • Lead on CAPX projects to improve our services and facilities.

The ideal candidate

  • Strategic leadership experience within Leisure Management, Local Authority Leisure, Leisure Trust or Community Sports, Fitness and Leisure sectors.

  • Commercial, financial, and operational leadership experience managing multi-faceted leisure facilities possibly as a Head of Leisure, Leisure Services Manager, Area Manager, Contract Manager, Cluster General Manager or experienced Senior General Manager.

  • Outstanding communicator and collaborator who is passionate about improving the health and well-being of the community and can provide evidence of delivering successful initiatives.

  • Experience in managing projects from inception to completion, E.g, CAPX projects or mobilising new sites.

  • Able to reliably commute to Stroud most working days.
