Leisure Club Manager up to 45K

Godalming, Surrey

I am looking for a leisure club manager to run a high-quality dual use sports centre in Godalming. In addition to being used by over 1000 pupils and staff in the afternoons and evenings, the club has a well-established and very loyal membership base in the local community who benefit from using the fantastic range of leisure and sporting facilities. The gym and studios have recently benefited from a significant capital investment to enhance the membership offer which also includes 2 large studios, a 25m pool and a large sports hall, climbing wall and multiple racquets courts. There is a separate membership for the 9-hole golf course. You will also be responsible for managing the significant lettings and private hire of the sports and leisure during the school Summer holidays.

With multiple stakeholders within the school, the local community and partners hiring the facilities this position requires a leisure club manager who is highly organised and who can confidently manage and deliver a complex fitness and sports programme whilst always delivering outstanding customer service and operational excellence. You will be supported by a team of 3 duty managers, administrators and a large team of front-line coaches, instructors and lifeguards.

This is a hand position, whilst much of your working week will be Monday to Friday there will be a requirement for some weekend working. You will need to be confident writing reports and presenting these to the Commercial Board, we would expect candidates to be experienced and confident in this regard. You will be the face of the leisure club and will represent the School on several community and sporting groups.

As this is a stand-alone facility you will not have the support of a regional or head office team so will need the experience and skills to take ownership for the day-to-day management of the centre. We are looking for candidates who hold a current Pool Plant, NPLQ and FAAW qualification whilst an IOSH or NEBOSH qualification would be beneficial. You will oversee and manage the membership sales and work closely with the school events and marketing team on seasonal campaigns and promotions.

We are very keen to hear from candidates who have club or general management experience working for a large wet and dry leisure centre, a private members sports club or a leisure club manager working for a 4 or 5* hotel. You will ideally be based within a 45-minute travel time of Godalming.

In addition to a basic salary of up to 45K dependent on experience, the position offers an enhanced pension scheme, 33 days holiday including bank holidays, free lunches and the opportunity for employer funded training course and qualifications.
