General Manager Hemel Hempstead to 80K basic 90K+ OTE + additional incentives

An outstanding opportunity in Hemel Hempstead to take on the role of General Manager and take day to day responsibility for one of the largest leisure venues of its type in Europe. The business generates a turnover of £10m with a £4m EBITDA and employs a team of up to 250 full and part time staff. We are looking for an outstanding leader who has a proven track record running a complex operation working at the premium end of the leisure, hotel, or hospitality sectors. You will be given the opportunity to evolve and fine tune the experience for the team, the guests and increase the year-on-year performance of this very well-run and established leisure business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide inspiring leadership, be a standard bearer for the company's values and ways of working to always deliver outstanding guest service.
  • Deliver and embrace a positive and fun working atmosphere within the team.
  • Ensure that financial performance matches targets set, income is maximised, and costs are minimised working.
  • Line manages, train and develop direct reports through regular 1-to-1s, performance reviews and team meetings.
  • Controlling the key variables of staffing and energy costs across the seasonal trends in the business
  • Embracing technology to enhance the customer flow and experience throughout the venue.
  • Responsible for a £1.5m restaurant operation and significant corporate hire and events business.
  • Manage the key relationships with the Board and key stakeholders with the confidence and credibility to present and prepare reports and plans.
  • Work closely with the Group H&S Manager in ensuring all Health and Safety and Risk Management issues are assessed and mitigated.

We are keen to talk to candidates who can demonstrate a proven track record in: :

  • Regional operations management or flagship General Management roles within a comparable sized operation.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire and develop teams.
  • A guest-centric mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional experiences.

In addition to a market leading basic salary of up to 80K, there is an annual performance bonus of up to 15% with additional and significant incentives for outstanding performance. Holiday entitlement is 33 days per year including bank holidays, there is a matched pension scheme of 5% and discounts of company products and experiences.
