A rare opportunity has arisen for a club manager to run a high profile university fitness and sports facility in London. The fitness centre has several thousand members and a huge pay as you go usage from students and staff. The centre offers a high class and well-equipped gym, studios, sports halls and squash courts. The remit is to encourage participation and wellness whilst also supporting the training regimes for multiple university sports teams. This is an exciting challenge as there are significant opportunities to evolve and enhance the programming and the member journey whilst introducing new ideas and services working very closely with your 3 heads of department, the Student Union and Sabbatical Officers with a goal of being recognised as the best sporting University in London. Remit includes:
- Embed a university wide culture of sport and physical activity
- Improving wellbeing through creating a physically active university community
- Supporting students to reach their fitness and sporting potential
- Responsibility for the day to day running, scheduling and health and safety across the fitness centre.
- To deliver an exceptional customer experience driving revenue, occupancy and usage.
- To meet and exceed revenue targets and convert casual usage to DD.
- To produce and present reports and analysis including pricing structure and membership packages.
- Plan, develop and run an ongoing marketing and promotional campaign aligned to the student calendar
- Optimise the use and understanding of the Legend CRM system.
- To constantly monitor and develop the studio timetable in line with market trends
- To organise gym challenges and wellness workshops
- Optimise the staffing rota and ensure all staff received ongoing training and development
- Support the Sport and Physical Activity Manager in all areas of their work.
Interested candidates will need:
- Degree educated with a proven track record in the fitness industry as a club manager.
- An excellent understanding of equal opportunities and diversity policies.
- Have a strong fitness knowledge and the commercial acumen to drive both sales and retention
- Be politically adept to manage multiple stakeholders
- Thrive in an environment that is fast paced where 20,000 students enrol every September.
In addition to a highly competitive basic salary of £36,770- £44.388 (noting that an appointment is likely to me made at mid-point within the salary scale), there are an exceptional range of benefits including holiday entitlement of 41 days per annum including bank holidays, access to the university pension scheme which pays in 21.4% with an employee contribution of 9.8% with significant opportunities for your own personal development and training.
