Life Leisure is the trading name for Stockport Active CIC, a Community Interest Company, formed in 2021 and wholly owned by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council.
Life Leisure operates 11 sports and leisure facilities and delivers a wide range of place-based wellbeing programs through its Active Communities brand, across the borough. The organisation employs a workforce of around 450 highly valued people and will generate a turnover of circa £11.5m this year.
There is a clear commitment to continual development and to improve the quality of the lives of communities across the Borough, through the provision of high quality, excellent value, accessible physical activity facilities and programmes.
Our goal is now to make a transformational shift from being a leisure provider to become a community health and wellbeing company rooted in the heart of our community. The appointment of a new CEO is pivotal in achieving this. Responsibilities include:
Plan, develop, implement, and direct the organization’s operational and fiscal function and performance.
Ensure the Board receive timely, accurate and meaningful performance and financial information to enable strategic decision making.
Manage, inspire, coach, and guide the Senior Leadership Team and team members to develop solutions to business challenges.
Analyse and make recommendation on the impact of long-range growth initiatives, planning, and introduction of new strategies.
Identify the opportunities for capital investment that will enhance the experience of customers and work collaboratively to deliver those projects.
Work with multiple partners across the ‘system’ to address health inequalities in the community and support the inactive to become more active.
Working with external stakeholders including GM Active, CIMSPA and UK Active to develop pioneering initiative that can transform the physical, mental and social well-being of communities.
Ensure all legal and regulatory obligations are fulfilled and monitor compliance accordingly.
We are keen to talk to candidates who can demonstrate:
A proven track record of strategic leadership within a leisure/wellness/charity/voluntary sector organisation at Board Level.
Demonstrable commercial acumen with experience of sound financial planning and management.
Outstanding leadership and relationship building skills, including being an authentic and values-led leader.
Evidence of positively influencing decisions through working collaboratively and strategically with key partners and stakeholders.
Have a genuine passion and belief in equal access to, health and physical activity for all.
Have significant facilities management experience; leisure experience is beneficial but not a prerequisite.
In addition to basic salary of up to 90K, the positions offer a range of benefits including 27 days holiday per annum plus 8 bank holidays and a stakeholder pension. A relocation package is also available.
